An Operating System is the basic software that manages a PC. It handles the way the hardware behaves, the communication with peripheral devices including a monitor, a printer or a keyboard, the allocation of memory between apps, as well as the prioritization of apps if multiple ones run at the same time. Any program that is installed on a desktop or a notebook operates by sending requests to the OS for different services via an application program interface (API). The contact with the OS can be done using a Graphical User Interface (GUI) or a command line. In the web hosting world, the Operating System is what commands a web server together with all the software installed on it, which includes not only website scripts, but also every other application for instance a VOIP or a game server. In case there're virtual machines created, they work with a guest OS that is run on the server host OS.

Multiple OS in VPS

We provide as many as 3 different Linux distributions for the Operating System of our virtual private servers - Debian, CentOS and Ubuntu. These are some of the most stable and reliable OSs available on the market and we supply all three of them instead of only 1 since we realize that you may want to install some software which has specific requirements regarding the Operating System it'll run on. The latter is due to the fact that each of the three Operating Systems has a huge support community behind it and there're different software programs you could install on the web server. Your OS selection will also determine exactly what hosting Control Panel can be set up on the VPS if you wish to use one and for this reason we offer several Control Panels as well. If you ever decide that you need some other OS, our technical support can quickly wipe the existing one and set up the one that you want. We also offer an optional service to have the OS on your VPS updated weekly.

Multiple OS in Dedicated Hosting

If you decide to buy one of our dedicated servers, you will find three Operating Systems on the order page because we want to give you a wider choice regarding the system environment on your server as different applications may have specific requirements. CentOS, Ubuntu and Debian contain different modules developed by their large support communities, so you can select each of these OSs and enjoy a stable and risk-free web hosting service. Based on your decision, you will also have different Control Panels to choose from. Of course, we can always change the Operating System if the one you have selected at first doesn't meet the requirements of the software that you intend to run. We can also upgrade your OS on a regular basis in order to keep it as risk-free as possible using our Managed Services upgrade package.
